Censorship at SDUHSD?

I write in response to the execrable Feb. 7 commentary, “A tale of two board discussions,” by Duncan Brown, the now-retired former president of the San Dieguito Faculty Association, a teachers union in the school district.

Sadly, Brown continues to misrepresent facts and promote falsehoods. One might wonder why Brown has raised his head now.

AB 495: Parental Rights on the Chopping Block in California

Parental rights are not a government grant. They are a God-given responsibility. From the beginning, God entrusted children to their parents—not to schools, not to the state, and not to social services. Parents are called to nurture, protect, and raise their children in truth (Deuteronomy 6:6–7, Proverbs 22:6). That calling is sacred.

Excessive Spending Without Accountability

When a public high school foundation in California took a whopping 25% cut of student club funds, seniors Liam Tian & Kevin Wang DOGE’d them. Their principal blasted them in a school-wide email. Now an audit confirms fraud, waste & abuse. Absolute legends.

They blew the whistle — then the audit confirmed everything

A long-awaited audit has vindicated two former Canyon Crest Academy students over their findings of financial irregularities and financial mismanagement for the school’s foundation.

Kevin Wang and Litong Tian, both 18, unearthed and published serious findings in September 2024 regarding the CCA Foundation’s financial handling of robotic club fees and revenue from 2012-2024, including between $3.5 million to $3.9 million in unexplained expenses and a failure to report certain requirements to the IRS.

Two San Diego teens investigated their high school foundation’s finances. Then one got called in to the principal.

Kevin Wang, a 17-year-old senior at Canyon Crest Academy, was bored over the summer and needed something to do.

Then he remembered something that had bothered him back when he was a business officer for one of the school’s robotics teams: The school’s nonprofit foundation and main fundraising arm, the Canyon Crest Academy Foundation, was taking a bunch of money from his team.

Judge rules ‘false, misleading’ SDUHSD ballot designation

ENCINITAS — A San Diego County Superior Court judge issued a split decision on Wednesday regarding the ballot designation for a San Dieguito Union High School District candidate.

Judge Wendy Behan ruled candidate Kevin Sabellico cannot use “Educator” as part of his ballot designation as it is “false and misleading” and ordered the San Diego County Registrar of Voters to remove it. However, Behan also ruled Sabellico can use “Board Member” as part of his designation as it describes a real and factual role held by him as he sits on the county’s Department of Environmental Health and Quality advisory board.

Teachers can Opt-Out of their union and legally keep their benefits!

Everyone knows how hard it is to be a teacher these days.

It's even harder when teachers don't agree with their union’s LEADERSHIP and how their hard-earned money is spent.

Teachers, it's tough if you disagree with your union's political expenditures and their undesirable candidates.

When your values conflict with your teacher's union's agenda, such as their inappropriate curricula, morale and trust drop while division rises.

What can teachers do if they don't want to support a candidate they don't like or teach something they don't believe in?

GOOD NEWS!

Teachers can Opt-Out of their union and legally keep their benefits!

Critical Race Theory is the new segregation across schools nationwide

Since the public became aware of critical race theory a few years ago, it’s subverted almost every aspect of America’s fabric.

In operative terms, CRT, a neo-Marxist dogma, reduces every interaction between individuals into a collectivist conflict, between the oppressor race (the guilty villain) and oppressed race (the righteous victim).

And the kids are not well.

School Parental Notification Policy Wins in California Court

A California school district’s parental notification policy won a preliminary victory in a California state court, when a Riverside County Superior Court judge declined to issue a preliminary injunction against it in a February 23 ruling (Mae M. v. Komrosky). The judge also declined to block a resolutionthat prohibited the teaching of certain concepts related to critical race theory (CRT).

LANCE CHRISTENSEN’S STATEMENT ON CHINO VALLEY USD PARENTAL NOTIFICATION POLICY

Good evening board president, trustees and superintendent. My name is Lance Christensen, Vice President of the California Policy Center.

Adults – who should know better – telling kids to keep secrets from their parents, is why we’re here tonight. Regardless of my personal feelings, I’m not here to comment on the probity of children transitioning to anything. We are only here to talk about honesty being the best policy.

AB 1078 Seeks to Strip Power from School Districts

Do you think that education and curriculum decisions should be made at the local level by your school boards and other relevant elected officials?

A new bill in Sacramento is seeking to strip those choices away from local groups — and enforce them from the statewide level instead.

Worse, the bill (Assembly Bill 1078), sponsored by Assemblyman Corey Jackson (D) and Co-sponsored by Assembly member Alex Lee, would require that any attempts by local school districts to remove controversial teaching materials or curriculum must “receive approval from the state board.”

RIP, Richard Bilkszto, a Toronto Educator Who Stood up to Woke Bullying—and Paid the Price

By Jonathon Kay for Quilette.com

July 21, 2023

In late April, 2021, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) trainer named Kike Ojo-Thompson presented a lecture to senior Toronto public-school administrators, instructing them on the virulent racism that (Ojo-Thompson believes) afflicts Canadian society. Canada, she said, is a bastion of “white supremacy and colonialism,” in which the horrors unleashed by capitalism and sexism regularly lay waste to the lives of non-white and female Canadians.

On a 4-1 vote, @ChinoValleyUSD adopted a policy which includes a requirement the district notify parents when their child requests to be identified or treated as a gender different from their biological sex, wants to use opposite-sex facilities, or suspects their child is suicidal. State Superintendent Tony Thurmond attended the board meeting and spoke intending to bully the school board.
